Not sure what to do with all those possessions that have accumulated in the dorm room over the year? The Center for Sustainable Service & Volunteerismallows students to participate in one final project that finishes the year off with a bang. The Give-n-Go project helps students help their community by donating unwanted items from their apartments and dorms to assist people in need in the Tuscaloosa community. The CSSV has partnered with Housing and Residential communities to make this program a growing success.

In 2009, the CSSV (with the help of UA students) raised $9,350 consisting of everything from TVs to clothes. Students also donated $1,013 dollars in food items as well. All the proceeds of the program went to benefit Temporary Emergency Service which provides outreach for people in need all over Tuscaloosa County. Students found donation bins in each of the on campus communities, and this ease of donation made the program that much more successful. Give-n-Go donations were up 50% from last year and the CSSV is looking forward to even more participation this year.

In 2009, the Center for Sustainable Service & Volunteerism donated over $10,000 in items to Temporary Emergency Services.
