People First of Alabama is a statewide self-advocacy organization of people with developmental disabilities. The organization is run by individuals with developmental disabilities.  There are local chapters across the state.  Volunteers are needed to assist the Board and local chapters as advisors.  Advisors assist the Board and Local chapter in running the organization.  Examples of volunteer activities include the provision of transportation,  assistance with the development of accessible training and informational materials through the use of clip art and assistive technology, assistance with teaching members how to provide training on self advocacy, support members in participating in local, state and national conferences, assist with arranging or providing training in the use of computers and internet. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
