Volunteerism

The engagement of students in activities where some service or good work is performed. One example would be cleaning up litter along the highway. There is no reciprocity between those doing the service and those being served. There is no reflection in the process for the volunteer, and the service is the focus with motivation based on either civic duty, religious conviction, or concern for the welfare of others.
