Alternative Sentencing

The use of community service as an alternative to a fine or jail time has become widespread in court and school judicial systems. It is a form or reparation in which the person "pays back" the community for violations and can prevent a court record if service is successfully completed. A high percentage of people who begin work under judicial order remain active as true volunteers long afterwards.
