The purpose of the Advisory Board is to serve as advocates for the Office of Community and Volunteer Service to the community; assist in resource development; provide feedback to the CSC from the community; review and assess community service programming; evaluate the performance of the CSC and Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity; provide a means for involving people who are willing to give assistance; provide technical support; and serve as an independent, unbiased sounding board.

The Board is comprised of ten (10) members who are residents of Tuscaloosa County, staff or students of The University of Alabama, or community leaders. Members must be in good standing with the community. Many agency representatives comprise the Advisory Board membership.

There are three (3) awards categories. The first, second, and third place recipients will receive $5,000, $3,000, and $2,000 awards respectively. Each program or project will be assessed based on each of the following criteria:

Each of the awards is to be re-invested in future organizational programming that will aid the community. The review panel that selects Caritas recipients is comprised of Community Service Center staff and local agency representatives.  You may be asked to assist with application reviews provided you have not partnered with a University of Alabama student organization for the awards.
