How You Can Help

Students and Student Groups

Students can join the Beat Auburn Beat Hunger Team and get as involved as they would like. Team meetings and updates will be posted on the Facebook group, as well as sent out to our email contacts. Team members will be able to participate in many ways throughout the food drive. Interested students can drop off cans in the Beat Auburn Beat Hunger truck which will be parked in the Ferguson Plaza throughout the entire food fight.  Student organizations can get involved as well by sponsoring a drive or fundraiser or by signing up for a grocery store party to collect donations outside a local grocery store.

Faculty and Staff

The Community Service Center wants the entire University of Alabama community to participate in its 14th Annual Beat Auburn Beat Hunger contest.  Faculty and Staff are invited to join in the food fight in several ways by participating in staff or office competitions, individually donating cans, or by making a monetary donation online.

Community Members

Members of the West Alabama community can get involved with Beat Auburn Beat Hunger starting drives at local churches as well as elementary, middle and high schools, encouraging co-workers to donate, and by making a donation. Civic organizations, sports teams and school functions are all great resources. Be creative!

Businesses

Corporate citizenship is important now more than ever and the Community Service Center recognizes the generosity of entrepreneurs and their partnerships with The University of Alabama.  Local businesses can participate by allowing the placement of a donation boxes in the workplace, encouraging employee giving, or by donating directly to the West Alabama Food Bank.   Checks made payable to the West Alabama Food Bank may be sent to:

The Community Service Center

Student coordinators will be glad to provide collection bins and publicity materials to participating local businesses.   Additionally, companies that prefer to donate food merchandise from their inventory may contact the Community Service Center at 205-348-2865 to arrange for pick-up.
